Small Batch, Big Step: Our Etsy Shop Is Live

This week marks an important milestone: the Vital Woodcraft Etsy shop is officially live with our first seven listings. It’s a limited soft opening — just a small batch of pieces to test the waters, get a feel for Etsy, and start building the rhythm of making, finishing, and shipping in a way that feels right.

The current offerings include several of our whimsical, functional coat racks — a great starting point for what Vital Woodcraft is all about. These are pieces that reflect the handmade spirit and playful design I want the shop to be known for. They’re simple, useful, and crafted to last, but each one has a bit of personality built in.

This opening is intentionally small. I’m using this first round to learn the ins and outs of Etsy’s system, plan for time management in the shop, and — honestly — just see how people respond. Every sale, every view, and every bit of feedback helps guide what comes next.

I’ve also finally settled on a two-tiered finishing system. Some pieces will be finished in tung oil — it’s slow, a bit fussy, but it gives a beautiful, natural glow that’s hard to match. Others will be finished with Clear Armor UV-cured resin, which is faster, cleaner, and incredibly durable. Having both options gives me more flexibility in the shop while still maintaining the look and feel I want in the final piece.

Coming soon, I’ll be releasing a new video that walks through the production of a piece from start to finish — from raw wood to completed product. It’s a look behind the scenes and a way to share more of the process with those who are curious about how these things come together.

If you're reading this — thank you. This launch may be small, but it’s meaningful. I’m looking forward to what’s next, and I’m glad to have you along for the ride.
